I was served default of payment, can't afford to pay?what can I do?
I was served a notice of default of payment, the creditor has a para-legal, when I went to court to see why I didn't pay, I have a rental, she said they will take the money from it to pay. Well, it was my first time in court, this guy did work on my house, I couldn't afford to get a lawyer, he did terrible work, anyway this para legal got me outside the court room, she wanted to talk to me alone, I had a friend as a witness, she said he wants it pad, close to $6000.00 she harassed me into paying $300.00 mth, she said they'd go after my rental, I need it to pay my mortgage, bills, I'm a single mom, I was bullied. I paid it until now, I want to go back to court to get it reduced, I get CPP, $800.00 rent, it's tough, does anyone know what I can file?

The Court does NOT take part in payment arrangements - doesn't set them up, doesn't change them. The Court DOES enforce payment arrangements.

If you do not make the payments and there is no Judgment against you I would expect to be taken back to Court. If there IS a Judgment and you do not make the agreed arrangements I would expect your wages to be garnished.

Did you offer proof of the unsatisfactory work as a defense to the claim?

How did you intend to pay the contractor if the work had been satisfactory?

You need or needed to prove your case though photos and written statements from other contractors that the work was not proper, not up to code and more.

Next report the para legal to the court, a para legal can not give legal advice, they may only fill out forms and a para legal never ( NEVER) represents the person in any court.
And they can not talk you into deals.

This para legal broke more laws than I can even list

OP has to come back BUT paralegals CAN do this type of work in Canada. I don't know where OP is.
