College wants to garnish my wages!
Ok in January of 2007 I registered for classes at Marian College (now Marian Universty) in Indiana. I learned from the financial aide office that I could not get any grants because of income and that my loans would not cover all costs. I then ended up dropping all classes because I was told that I could not stay without payment. Now I after a year I have been sued because the want half the tuition fees because I dropped my classes. I wasn't even in classes for a whole 30 days. I made arrangements for payment after I lost my judgement but I am still not able to pay now and they want to take me back to court to garnish my wages.

My question is is there away that I could get out of this seeming that I was basically forced out? I would appreciate as much feedback and answers as I can get!

    Thanks!

No, probably not. Your judgment is final. So it's too late to argue about it now.

This was taken to court and the judge ruled you owed the money. You can try to appeal, but to do so, you need to determine the school's policy on cancellations. Most schools have a set policy that says if you drop a course within a certain time frame, there will be no charge, if you stay longer, there will be 25% due, 50% etc. That is your ONE and ONLY defense. If the school's policy is that 50% tuition is due if you drop after classes start (as I suspect it does) then you have no legal recourse.
