There are products made for that. They're in the body exfolliating section at the drug stores.. Pick up a pair of loofa gloves and try it. Good luck

Yep, your right KittKat22, what she is referring to as "dirty knees and elbows" is most likely a build up of dead skin and exfoliating is the key to getting rid of that.

Also using a good moisturizer REGULARLY. A good time to moisturize is after a bath or shower when the skin is still damp.

Perhaps a cream or lotion with alpha hydroxy acids in it should help with lightening.

Do a 40% lactic peel on your knees and elbows and then apply a skin lightening cream. This will get rid of it for sure!

    Vaseline is perfect!
    Lubriderm or Eucerin Cream.
You need something that's going to hold on and not rub off so easily.

    Eucerin cream is thick!
I remember my building manager had to come to my apartment to check up on some thing and he saw my jar of Eucerin Cream in my bathroom and he asked me where I got it because he paid for his at the doctors office.

He kept looking at the jar with the funny look on his face.
I told him I bought mine from good old Wal-Mart.
    No doctor needed:D

I like this subject very much I have some darkness on my right knee only
I think its because of friction when I clean the house floor I kneel on my right knee to support me and with years it made smal dark spot

Exfoliation with moisterizing(I prefer vaselline it work very well) it will take time bt evantually ull be satisfied with the results

I used to exfoliate and moisterize my knee before I go to sleep it may take a month before you see results and it depends on severity of your case

Kojic Acid Soap is a very cheap exfoliating cleanser, use on both your knees and elbows, it will help with the dark color as well.
