A lotion is a thin moisturizer that is poured out of a bottle. A moisturizer is a substance designed to retard water loss from the skin thereby increasing the water content of the skin. The two most common forms of moisturizers are lotions and creams. Lotions have more water and are pourable, while creams have less water and are usually scooped from a jar.

Both products I am talking about is in a bottle in lotion form.

What I want to know is what is the difference between dry skin lotion and moisturising lotion.

What you did was describe to me the difference between a lotion and a cream.

I only added the "lotion" part into the "dry skin lotion" so it doesn't look like "difference between dry skin and moisturiser."

A dry skin lotion is for dry, rough skin. The essential purpose of a skin dry skin lotion is to keep the skin moist, so most contain lubricating agents. These work best when applied while the skin is still wet, for example, just after a bath or shower. This kind of lotion contain various amounts and combinations of other additives like lanolin, aloe, Vitamin E and other ingredients.

A moisturizing lotion nourishes the skin and works to give protection against environmental damage.
