Usually the company will give you some guidance on this. It's a bit of a touchy subject since the large majority of recipients of telemarketing hate the industry.

Did you just use the words "ethics" and "telemarketing" in the same sentence?

But seriously, there are a number of online articles to give you tips.
Here's a few such, but do a Google search for "telemarketing tips" and you'll find tons of info:

My best advise, personally, is go into another line of work. Find something that makes you happy. This might not be it for you.

First and foremost you can not call any number listed under the do not call list. So you have to screen each call if your company does not do it for you.

But every bit of ethics would be breaking any company policy for pushing to get a sale. In general you will get a script to say, words to say if the customer says this or that

I don't know anything about a telemarketer's job other than being on the receiving end. Just keep it honest and don't doing anything unethical or something that makes you feel uncomfortable.

    Oh, and no means no.
