    Determining Connection Speed for program
    On a program I have, I have to choose my connection speed.
    The choices are:
    56 kbps
    100 kbps
    300+ kbps

    But my connection speed says 54.0 mbps

    Which one do I set it too?

    1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes... therefore 54 mbps is 54 times 1024 or 55296 kilobytes per second. Judging by that, I say you should set it to 300+ (which is a cable connection, I believe).

    Is there not a selection to let the program choose? That's what I usually check off! :)

    LOL! Me too, that's why I have no clue.
    So use to it being done for me. LOL
    But unfortunately, this one doesn't offer that. (it's website program)

    I was reading some of the other answers about speed topics and I think
    54 mbps is the speed going from the network to me? (I'm wireless).

    I selected the 300+ and it's working great...
    So it must be right...

    The 54 mbps refers to your wireless connection speed.
    What this question is asking is about your INTERNET connection.
    If you are using boradband then simply select the fastest one going.

    Something you can do to determine your internet connection speed is to run a speedtest. It will send and receive a file to various servers and then time the speeds.

    Your ISP should have a bandwidth speed test also. Check your ISP's website.

    As an example, I'm on DSL 5Meg service, but I only get 3700 kbps download, and 800 kbps uploads. 5 Meg cable service, gives me 4800 kbps download, 380 kbps uploads.
