    Hi:

How do I find out whether a bank is FDIC as advertised?

Most domestic, interstate and state banks offer annual reports to their customers.

If you have a branch relationship, you could start there. At a glance-get the institution's financial report. If they have Required Reserves then they ARE part of the Federal Reserve banking system.

On the other hand, state banks are not required to belong to the FDIC. If your bank declines to give you a copy you search for it online. If you deal with an online bank then I suggest you contact the Federal Reserve DIstrict office. (San Francisco District # 12, serves California regionally.)

    Hope this helped. :D
