Technically, you can't. If this is a threatening call, contact the phone company and the police department to file a report. They still will not tell you who it is. You can also put an anonymous block on your phone that will require callers that normal show up as "Private Caller" to announce themselves. Hope this helps.

You can also set up a landline to require callers to enter a code before it allows the call to pass. A wife's parents had some personal info stolen and credit accounts opened in their names, this was a good solution until the identity theft was resolved.

If your having really bad problems with calls from private numbers you might consider asking your phone company if they offer this and check the cost.
