Breaking news is that CBS fired CBS and former Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge. Fine ;that is their right. What is unprecedented in the firing is that they seized her files ;records ,and computers on her way out the door.

Herridge has extensively reported on both the Biden Crime Family and on Quid Pro Joe's diminishing mental capacity as noted in the Hur Report . The files likely contain confidential material from both. Journalists are generally allowed to leave with their files.

Sources need to be protected . When Mark Felt became the source for Woodward and Bernstein during Watergate he did so knowing they would keep their source to themselves until the day he died .


She has been an investigative reporter for more than 20 years ;and have guarded the confidentiality of her sources even to the point of being held in contempt. She is currently involved in a case about Chinese American scientist Yanping Chen. The judge in the case has ordered her to reveal her sources. She is now challenging possible contempt charges for exercising her 1st Amendment rights.

Her hiring was a welcome change from the trend of networks hiring talking heads that parrot the company line. But apparently the network of Murrow ;Cronkite and even Roger Mudd is long gone .

I suspect someone in the administration got to them .

“People can’t make sense of this decision,” said a source, noting that staffers inside the network’s Washington bureau where Herridge worked are “shocked and dismayed” that CBS would oust a journalist who “brought credibility” to the company.

Herridge came to CBS in 2019 to be a balanced voice, covering both sides of the aisle, after having served as chief intelligence correspondent for Fox News.But Herridge’s most recent assignment — covering the Hunter Biden probe — put her under a microscope at the left-leaning network, The Post has learned.

Collin Rugg, who co-owns conservative website Trending Politics, posted on X: “Herridge was fired just hours after she reported on how Biden may have ‘retained sensitive documents related to specific countries involving his family’s foreign business dealings’… Wild.”

Hmmm Long time FBI informant Alexander Smirnov got arrested by the FBI after he revealed that Hunter and Quid got a $5million bribe apiece from Burisma . They are charging him with lying . Herridge had been a lead reporter on the story . Suddenly she gets fired the next day and her confidential files and computer is seized by CBS .

Then a judge releases Smirnov . So the FBI went to another judge and had him arrested again yesterday .

It's a sad day that should be mourned by all freedom-loving Amerians. This weaponization of the justice system is a real danger.

Heard it said recently that there are three primary threats to freedom. The first two are your neighbor (internal) and foreign nations (external). We count on our government to protect us from them. The third, however, is far more difficult to deal with since it is the very government we were counting on for protection. What is the solution for that problem? It is that very problem that we are seeing now.

U.S. District Court judge Christopher Cooper has held Herridge in contempt of court ;ordered her to reveal her source in the Chen case ;and ordered her to pay $800 /day until she gives up here source.

Steve Baker ;a reporter for 'Blaze' , was arrested this week for entering the Capitol building on Jan 6 while reporting the events.

You see ;in his commentary of the days he called Madame Mimi Pelosi a b*tch . He also said he regretted NOT stealing a computer from the building because of what he would've discovered on it . No he did not actually steal one. He just said on a YouTube interview he wished he had.

It is really not surprising that the press freedoms guaranteed in the 1st amendment are under attack by the left. They see it as a obstacle to their agenda. They couch their attack in terms of preventing disinformation.

On Rachel Madcow's MSNBC show ;their legal analyst (who wrote a whole book on the subject) argued that America was vulnerable due to press freedoms . (in a way that is true). She then went on to claim that only certain segments engage in disinformation and that it was hard to control with the 1st Amendment guarantees because any attempt to limit so called disinformation was met with the charge of censorship.
She called for "common sense " restrictions (amazing how often the left couches curbs of rights as "common sense" )

And it is not just speech and press rights under assault . Bottom line is they don't buy the premise that rights are God given (natural ) They believe rights are a human construct to be given or taken away by goverment.

Don't believe me ? Here is Politico correspondent Heidi Przybyla (again on MSNBC) speaking about "Christian Nationalists " ....who apparently have taken over Trump's campaign .

But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don't come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God.

The founders of the nation were clear on this issue. The premise of the Revolution were stated clearly in the 1st paragraph of the Declaration of Independence. Phrases like “endowed by their Creator”: “Nature and Nature’s God” and "inalienable " were not flippant throw away words and lines.

What they were saying is the rights of humans are not determined by the whims of the people in charge.

Enlightenment writer Edmund Burke said that the survival of liberty in a large part depends on a generational transfer of values ; and traditions, to be changed gradually if at all after careful deliberation and a compelling need . It appears to me that the closer the left comes to their total "transformation " of society the more urgent they act to finish the job .

That should be alarming to the few dozen journalists who actually are chasing the truth. The thousands of others, busy as they are supporting liberal dem causes, have nothing to fear.

But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don't come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God.

In other words, God does not determine your rights, we do. That should be a chilling thought for everyone who loves freedom.
