The flyover country that the elites (including Clueless Joe) ignore
Yes ;even though he champions himself as a working class man ; he long ago became an elite swamp critter .

What more proof do you need than it took him over a year to get his shoes dirty in East Palestine Ohio ?
    East Palestine forgotten (askmehelpdesk.com)

A year later there is still no declaration of a disaster that would free up funds to begin to repair the community . Instead Joe made a mockery of his photo -op by drinking a glass of water ;presumable from the contaminated water supply .

East Palestine, Ohio: Biden drinks water, praises 'Herculean' cleanup (usatoday.com)

He then said the government would be studying the long and short term health impacts of the train derailment .

He also had a cup of coffee But was it a toxic cup of Joe (pun intended ) ?

He then headed to the beach.

East Palestine is just one of many places left behind and ignored .
Less than an hour away is the West Virgina town of Weirton (population around 18,800).

One of the few major employers in the area is shutting down.
Here is part of WV Guv Jim Justice's announcement of the closing

“The news of Cleveland-Cliffs closing their Weirton operation hits me like a ton of bricks. Nearly 900 West Virginia jobs are lost; it's a gut punch to families, to the community and to our state's very spirit.

And it’s all because of an unwise, irresponsible decision by the United States International Trade Commission. This commission has only four members, three of which were appointed by President Barack Obama. Their decision denied proposed import tariffs on tin mill products from China, Canada, and Germany that the U.S. Department of Commerce determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value and directly subsidized by the government of China.

Their decision effectively allows cheap steel to continue flooding into our country, which forced Cleveland-Cliffs to close their facility and will further decimate America’s steel industry in the days and weeks to come.
Gov. Justice issues statement on closing of Cleveland-Cliffs Weirton facility (wv.gov)

900 layoffs . That's almost 5% of the population not including the families those workers support .

And it isn't just the 900 employees and their families affected . The support businesses like [FONT=Montserrat]gas stations, mom-and-pop grocery stores, the machine shops that make parts for the steel industry ;the barbers and hair dressers will all feel the hit . This means a loss of tax revenue that will not be easily replicable .Less money for schools ;roads and other town infrastructure.

The mill hired the parents of the workers there now. Back then;30 years ago there were 10,000 people employed at the mill. The 900 were the holdouts .

December the major announcement was that US Steel would be purchased by Nippon ;the Japanese steel manufacturer .
Who was their US competitor ? Of course ;none other than Cleveland-Cliffs.

They claim their bid was more than competitive . The Steel Workers Union backed the deal with Cleveland-Cliffs. The decision to go one was or another would be determined by regulators living deep in the swamp.

Cleveland-Cliffs argued its US Steel bid was worth more than Nippon Steel's, filing shows | Reuters

If the deal went to Nippon there were national security implications
If the deal went to Cleveland-Cliffs , the anti-trust warriors in the administration feared the loss of competition.

Evidently screwing American workers became the preferred option.

The compliant press ;who prefer to cover "flyover country" from their desks on the computer will not get this story right. It is a story that has recurred many times since the 80s when the parents of today's workers at the mill saw their town thriving.

It was the story that shaped the 2018 election .It is the continuing saga of the seemingly intentional destruction of middle America,

It illustrates what I have long believed. Liberal dems love to help people under two circumstances. 1. They can do it with someone else's money. 2. They are able to get some positive press out of the whole deal. If BOTH of those parameters are not met, then they're out.
