Eileen O'Conner is a former prosecutor for the DOJ who headed up the DOJ tax division from 2001-2007 . She will be one of the first to testify to the Quid impeachment inquiry .
In an op ed for the WSJ she says something interesting about statutes of limitations.

I will copy the complete opinion

Special counsel David Weiss has charged Hunter Biden with making false statements on an application to purchase a gun. (Mr. Biden has pleaded not guilty.) Now go collect the taxes.
After working on it for about three years, Internal Revenue Service criminal investigators submitted a lengthy “Special Agent Report” to the Justice Department’s Tax Division, recommending that prosecutors bring felony charges against Mr. Biden for 2014 and 2018 for willful attempt to evade or defeat taxes and willful filing of a false return. Both are felonies punishable by a fine of up to $100,000 and prison time, up to five years for the former offense, three for the latter. The report also recommended that Mr. Biden be charged with willful failure to file returns or pay taxes for each of five years, 2015-19. These are misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in prison or $25,000, or both. Special agent Joseph Ziegler testified that the Tax Division produced a 99-page memo authorizing these criminal charges.
The statute of limitations having expired on the felonies that could have been charged for 2014, Mr. Weiss then negotiated a deal under which Mr. Biden would plead guilty to, but pay no penalty for, two years of misdemeanors—while the 2018 felony and three years of misdemeanor charges would be dropped.
Two agreements were presented to Judge Maryellen Noreika on July 26, and there was a peculiar cross-reference. Buried deep in the gun-diversion agreement was a provision granting immunity for any crimes encompassed in an exhibit to the tax plea agreement. When the judge asked about this, prosecutors backed away from it, causing Mr. Biden to withdraw his guilty plea to the two tax misdemeanors. Mr. Weiss could refile the tax charges but hasn’t yet.
But have the statutes of limitations really expired on Mr. Biden’s tax violations? Not necessarily. Mr. Weiss might have botched the prosecution on the earlier years, but the IRS could nonetheless seek to collect any unpaid taxes.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has said he has reviewed Suspicious Activity Reports filed with the Treasury Department indicating that Hunter Biden received as much as $50 million from sources in China, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Romania between 2014 and 2019. That is vastly larger than the amounts whistleblowers have testified were shown on the federal income-tax returns he filed for those years. House committee members allege that he concealed his ownership of those funds by having them funneled into dozens of entities.

Ordinarily, the IRS must assess taxes and begin proceedings to collect them within three years of the date the return reporting them is filed. But when no return is filed, or when the return is false, fraudulent or otherwise represents a willful attempt to defeat or evade tax, the statute of limitations doesn’t start running.
The report the special agents submitted to the Tax Division claimed that Mr. Biden’s violations of tax law were willful. Can it be credibly argued that tax returns omitting millions of dollars of taxable income are not false or fraudulent?
Were Hunter Biden and others engaged in a conspiracy to conceal their income and its sources? Where are the bank accounts for the 20 or so entities the Oversight Committee believes Mr. Biden and his business partners established? The agents claim to have been thwarted in their efforts. If they hadn’t been, what might they have discovered?
As to possible criminal charges, note that the statute of limitations begins to run when the last affirmative act of concealment occurs. So if income is received in year one and not reported, and the last action undertaken to conceal it occurred in year five, it is in year five that the statute of limitations begins to run.
It would be an error to conclude that the statute of limitations on criminal charges has expired without considering whether acts of concealment prevented or delayed its start date. In fulfillment of its oversight obligation, Congress must continue its efforts to see that the laws it has passed are enforced.

If the Biden DOJ had any real interest in justice, then this would be pertinent. I don't think they do, so they'll just ignore it.

That is why the impeachment inquiry needs to proceed .

Yesterday the Dems gave us the Quid is guilty of loving his son defense.

He loved his son so much that he brought him on many official VP foreign trips so he could sell the idea to clients that he could peddle Quid's power on their behalf. He loved his son and brother so much that he overlooked as his son collected bribes ;set up shell companies to launder the money ;and to distribute the money to as many as 10 family members .

Once the Repubs get access to the bank /financial records of the Biden Crime family and these shell companies the whole house of cards collapses . Even the deep state machine will not save them .

High crimes and misdemeanors were added to the impeachment clause after George Mason addressed the convention. Before that the only justifications for impeachment were treason and BRIBERY . In Trump's case the impeachment clause was abused ;as some of the founders feared it might be. But in Quid's case ;the impeachment clause is the correct remedy.
In fact the impeachment clause was added to the Constitution to specifically address Quid's type of corruption.

Miranda Devine of the NY Post has been the go to reporter on the Biden Crime Family since the discovery of the laptop, She will not get a Pultizer Prize for her stellar reporting even though he work is right up there with Woodward and Bernstein Watergate reporting .

She wrote about new revelations Wednesday prior to yesterday's opening round of the impeachment inquiry.

    1. Uncle Jim Biden told the FBI and IRS in an interview last September that he and his nephew Hunter tried to help Chinese firm CEFC buy a US liquid natural gas facility in Louisiana — and that they did so in the knowledge that the company was directly linked to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Hunter told his uncle that CEFC chairman Ye Jianming “was a protégé of President Xi,” the FBI report says. But investigators were instructed not to ask Jim Biden if his brother, then-former Vice President Joe Biden, was involved in the ultimately unsuccessful CEFC deal or to follow “normal investigative leads,” says the committee.
    2. IRS public affairs officer Justin Cole emailed the chief and deputy chief of IRS criminal investigations a report of conversations between a CNN producer and Hunter Biden, in which Hunter said that he was “not willing to accept” a plea deal and that he “expected all of this ‘stuff’ would go away when his dad becomes president.”
    3. The FBI was investigating Morris for campaign finance violations. “These violations pertain to a wealthy Hollywood lawyer, Kevin Morris, who was enlisted to help the family, and who paid millions of dollars to help Hunter around the time that Joe Biden becomes president,” says the committee. But Leslie Wolf, Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney, told investigators that she was not “personally interested” in the Morris investigation and that “she did not want any of the agents to look into the allegation.”
    4. Wolf refused multiple requests by Pittsburgh US Attorney Scott Brady to brief Delaware investigators about an FBI FD-1023 report alleging that Joe Biden was paid a $5 million bribe by an executive of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, as was his son Hunter. The allegation came from a trusted FBI confidential human source during a June 2020 interview. But Wolf “had already concluded no information from that office could be credible, stating her belief that it all came from Rudy Giuliani,” Shapley said, even though the FBI report had nothing to do with Giuliani. On October 22, 2020, the Justice Department ordered the Delaware US Attorney’s office to take the Pittsburg briefing, but Shapley said his investigators never saw the FD-1023, nor were told what it contained, despite the fact it was directly relevant to their case.
    5. Wolf instructed investigators seeking a search warrant of a Biden property to “erase” any mention of “Political Figure 1” — who was Joe Biden.

My faith in the feds doing what is right and lawful is pretty much near zero. Perhaps they will prove me wrong. If the American people had any sense, Biden would currently be polling at around 10%. That he is still considered to be a viable candidate is the most disappointing aspect of this whole dreadful mess.

Where's the money ? That is what Quid says as proof I guess that there is no pay for influence peddling going on.

Biden: "Where's The Money?" - YouTube

We know that an elaborate labyrinth of shell corps were create to hide it .

To date what we have had was solid testimonial evidence and Hunter's emails . But until the Repubs opened an impeachment inquiry that gave them the ability to examine bank records there was no smoking gun,

The first smoking gun with a direct link between Quid and the Biden crime family has been revealed .

His brother James has long used the influence of Quid to enrich himself . One of the companies he suggested that he could give access to the big guy was Americore ;a hospital firm. They wanted Middle East Investors So 2018 they sent him a check for $200,000 . James immediately cut a check to Quid for the same amount.

Americore has gone belly up since. But in court filings their bankruptcy trustee said that James “procured the $600,000.00 in loans from Americore … based upon representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based
    on his political connections.”

Microsoft Word - BIDEN ADV - Complaint for Turnover - Breach of Contract 4889-8270-2118 v.3.docx (house.gov)
Now this transfer occurred in 2018, after Quid left VP office. He has consistently denied knowledge of his family's businesses. This check at very least exposes that as a lie. .But you can bet that the date of the check will be the next goal post his apologists will move to.

We now have proof he profited from the relationship ;and .They in turn were profiting from the influence he could bring to the table.

Devan Archer ;a business partner to Hunter admitted under oath that they were selling the “Biden Brand

The Quid apologists in the swamp and compliant press now say that they were selling the "illusion " of access.

Hunter Biden sold ‘illusion of access’ to his father, former business partner tells Congress | PBS NewsHour

They will also not be satisfied of the proof until there is a direct link between Quid and the companies that do not go through the crime family middle men. .

Quid says James was repaying a loan to him . There is no evidence that Quid while VP had the means to give James a $200,000 loan.

Hunter Biden testified to the Impeachment Committee

"I did not involve my father in my business, not while I was a practicing lawyer, not in my investments or transactions, domestic or international, not as a board member ,and not as an artist, never.” "

and not as an artist, never. (cue up the laugh track)

This is what the Compost reported at the time
White House officials have helped craft an agreement under which purchases of Hunter Biden’s artwork—which could be listed at prices as high as $500,000—will be kept confidential from even the artist himself, in an attempt to avoid ethical issues that could arise as a presidential family member tries to sell a product with a highly subjective value.
Under an arrangement negotiated in recent months, a New York gallery owner is planning to set prices for the art and will withhold all records, including potential bidders and final buyers. The owner, Georges Bergès, has also agreed to reject any offer that he deems suspicious or that comes in over the asking price, according to people familiar with the agreement . . .
Andrew Bates, the deputy White House press secretary, suggested that the buyers’ confidentiality would ensure the process is ethical. “The president has established the highest ethical standards of any administration in American history, and his family’s commitment to rigorous processes like this is a prime example,” Bates said.
Deal of the art: White House grapples with ethics of Hunter Biden’s pricey paintings - The Washington Post

This is what James Comer released after interving the art gallery's owner Georges Bergès,

“The Biden White House appears to have deceived the American people about facilitating an ethics agreement governing the sale of Hunter Biden’s art. Hunter Biden’s gallerist never had any communication with the White House about such an agreement to make sure there was any sort of ethics compliance at all, and he provided information to the committee revealing how Hunter Biden’s amateur art career is an ethics nightmare. The vast majority of Hunter Biden’s art has been purchased by Democrat donors, one of whom was appointed by President Biden to a prestigious commission after she purchased Hunter Biden’s art for tens of thousands of dollars shortly after Joe Biden’s inauguration. The White House has a lot of explaining to do about misleading the American people.” .....................
Georges Bergès stated he never had any communication with the White House about an agreement about Hunter Biden’s art and admitted Hunter Biden knew the identities of the individuals who purchased roughly 70% of the value of his art, including Democrat donors Kevin Morris and Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali.

If the pres was considered capable of intelligent thought, then this whole business could leave him with considerable liability, but since the DOJ believes he is not capable of such thought, then he is good to go. Someone might want to consider prying his finger off the nuclear trigger, however.

Apparently she is not aware that it is a crime even though she probably endorses such charges against the accused in the Trump Atlanta trial.

Public corruption is a breach of public trust that typically occurs when federal, state, or local officials and their private-sector co-conspirators abuse their position.
What is an example of abuse of office and public corruption? Bribery is one of the most common examples of public corruption. Bribery and kickbacks are common types of corruption and often go together. Bribery and kickbacks are among the most serious types of corruption.

If she is looking for charges that would warrant an impeachment ,all she really needed to do was to listen to the opening statement of Chair James Comer.

We’ve reviewed emails, bank records, text messages, Suspicious Activity Reports at the Treasury Department, and other evidence normally compiled during an expansive investigation such as this.
The Oversight Committee has found no credible evidence of the Bidens providing any work product. The Committee has identified no legitimate value or document or even one single hour of work that the Bidens have provided their business partners.
What is apparent, after over a year of investigation, is that the Bidens do not work in any traditional sense of the word. They do not work as consultants. Or lawyers. Or advisors. The Bidens don’t sell a product or a service or a set of skills.
    The Bidens sell Joe Biden.
Comer: The Bidens Sell Joe Biden - United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability

Because in the course of this investigation, we have learned that Joe Biden has taken action after action to further his family’s plans to get rich.
He shows up to meetings, gets on phone calls, shakes hands and tells people to “look after my family.”
He goes to dinners with foreign oligarchs and a Ukrainian executive paying his son millions of dollars.
He gets paid with money from Chinese businessmen who he has meetings with and tells other business associates he’ll see what he can do to help their situations. He writes letters of recommendation for foreign business associates’ children.
The scam is simple. The Biden family promises they can make a foreign partner’s problems go away by engaging the U.S. government.
The problems can be anything. A Ukrainian corruption investigation. Moving Russian money to the United States. A Romanian criminal prosecution. Access for China to American energy resources. Joe Biden shows up, shakes a few hands in front of his son, and says “take care of my boy,” or something similar. And the money flows. It’s done over and over again. The Biden family promises Joe’s power, Joe Biden shows up, and millions of dollars come into the Bidens’ pockets. Joe Biden is the Biden family’s closer.
How could he not be? The Bidens aren’t doing any other work for these foreign companies that would warrant tens of millions of dollars.
There are only two explanations for this. The first is that Joe Biden knows exactly what he is doing, and knows a handshake, a wink, and a smile is enough for him to maintain, as Jim Biden called it, “plausible deniability.”
Or Joe Biden is being led around by his family and has no idea who he is meeting with or what message he is sending and is truly “an elderly man with a poor memory.”
There is no other explanation: either Joe Biden is complicit, or Joe Biden is incompetent.

What is the end game ? ?Repubs ;whether they have the smoking gun evidence on Quid or not, cannot successfully impeach him. They don't have the votes ;not even in the House .

    Plan B .
