maybe but they do want to eliminate journalistic objectivity . Here is an op-ed by Leonard Downie Jr., the former executive editor of The Washington Compost

But increasingly, reporters, editors and media critics argue that the concept of journalistic objectivity is a distortion of reality. They point out that the standard was dictated over decades by male editors in predominantly White newsrooms and reinforced their own view of the world. They believe that pursuing objectivity can lead to false balance or misleading “bothsidesism” in covering stories about race, the treatment of women, LGBTQ+ rights, income inequality, climate change and many other subjects. And, in today’s diversifying newsrooms, they feel it negates many of their own identities, life experiences and cultural contexts, keeping them from pursuing truth in their work.

Opinion | Newsrooms that move beyond ‘objectivity’ can build trust - The Washington Post

The way to seek truth is to cancel objectivity .

Evidently his colleagues in the compliant press agree.

To better understand the changes happening now, I and former CBS News president Andrew Heyward, a colleague at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, investigated the values and practices in mainstream newsrooms today, with a grant from the Stanton Foundation. What we found has convinced us that truth-seeking news media must move beyond whatever “objectivity” once meant to produce more trustworthy news. We interviewed more than 75 news leaders, journalists and other experts in mainstream print, broadcast and digital news media, many of whom also advocate such a change. This appears to be the beginning of another generational shift in American journalism.

Now the charge the left makes is that Fox news is not objective in it' s coverage. So Downey Jr should have no problem with their approach.

Evidently the writer has no idea what an outrageously contradictory statement that is. You cannot become more "trustworthy" by becoming less objective. It's on the level of claiming I am going to become smarter by becoming less intelligent.

He is talking about journalistic "objectivity", not true objectivity.

like in the days when Walter Lippman called for objectivity in response to the partisan and yellow journalism of his day . My own opinion is that there never was such a thing as journalistic objectivity in the so called main stream media ,truth guardians ,of the Slimes and Compost .

"Objectivity in journalism aims to help the audience make up their own mind about a story, providing the facts alone and then letting audiences interpret those on their own. To maintain objectivity in journalism, journalists should present the facts whether or not they like or agree with those facts."

Yeah, it's just plain ole objectivity. They want to displace one corrupt sense of objective journalism with another corrupt sense of objective journalism. We would be better off with reporters who just report the facts.

    Journalism 101:
Who, what, when, why, where, and how. ("Why" is the subjective one, but all of the others that should be objective can be twisted to be subjective too.)

yeah but when the gatekeepers decide that their mission is to save the world despite itself then objective truth is inconvenient.

That is exactly where we are. Too many in journalism view it as practically a religious calling as opposed to a profession.

More from a guy who seems to have good sense.

VIVEK RAMASWAMY: … I mean, you think about actually handing $40 billion-plus to Ukraine with one hand at the same time that Biden was lobbying actually the EU from its Russian oil import ban. The reason is because we've shot our own fossil fuel industry in the foot, and it is because of this climate religion, but the dirty little secret, Maria [Bartiromo], that not a lot of people know is the climate religion actually has nothing to do with the climate. It is all about power, control, dominion and apologizing for America's own success. And the reason why is that this religion looks the other way when PetroChina picks up the projects that American companies drop. Last time I checked, it was global climate change, and also it's hostile to nuclear energy, which is truly bizarre because that's the best form of carbon-free energy production known to mankind. The problem for them is that nuclear energy might be too good at solving their alleged problem.
HOUSE DEMOCRATS' OWN WITNESS BLASTED BIDEN'S CLIMATE BILL FOR PERMITTING 'CLIMATE APOCALYPSE'
… What they really want to do is punish America and establish this agenda of global equity, which also allows China to catch up to us, and I think it's important we have a president who sees through that. Republicans dance around this issue a little bit too delicately. I say it expressly: we need to abandon climate religion in America. Yeah, that's the easiest step to unshackle our economy.

California is forcing Hollywierd to go even more woke.

    Variety:
Under a proposal from the governor’s office, productions that fail to meet their diversity goals will lose 4% of their tax credit allocation. The provision is part of a five-year extension of the state’s $330 million tax credit. Productions that receive the credit will be required to submit a diversity “workplan,” under which they must commit to hire a crew that is “broadly reflective” of the state’s demographics
California Aims to Punish Productions That Don't Hit Diversity Goals - Variety

    There's more

In recent years, The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has made it a point to produce an annual Studio Responsibility Index which grades the top eight major Hollywood studios based on the quantity, quality, and diversity of the LGBTQ representation in their films. In the organizations 10th annual report, all seven major film studios failed to receive a passing grade based on the ever-evolving standards ..

    diversity goals
Previously known as "quotas", but that word does not appeal to the public, so now it becomes, "a diversity “workplan,” under which they must commit to hire a crew that is “broadly reflective” of the state’s demographics."

I'm about halfway through it. VR is a smart guy. I don't see him being a serious candidate since he thinks on a level that most people, it seems to me, don't want to have to trouble themselves to understand, but he says some really good things. His comments about wokism, climatism, socialism, and so forth taking the place of God, national pride, hard work, high character, et al in giving our lives meaning struck me as being spot on.

Reagan hammered home his vision of what it means to be American for 20 years before he was elected . The biggest problem I see is that conservatives can recognize a very sh*tty lefty idea . So they rightly oppose it . But they fail when offering an alternate vision . (Trump tried but became bitter and ultimately failed )

VR's plan is not short term . Children have to be properly taught the American dream . Without that we are just a big country with no unifying premise . We will not succeed by being the party of no.

I think the repubs are stuck. The only solution involves drastic cuts in spending which will effect everything across the board. With the currently accepted approach of passing out goodies without having to raise revenues to fund them. a good dose of reality is not going to go well with the voters. It's why basically no one talks about deficit spending anymore.

Yes That is why he speaks of a long term sea change . He says "There’s a deeper national identity crisis where we lost our sense of who we are as a people, lost our sense of who we are as individuals, and back when we used to believe in God, have faith in God, believe in a country, when we used to believe in our family as a source of identity, when you used to believe in hard work as a sense of our identity. When those things disappear, that’s when we start to look for new forms of identity instead.”

That restoration will not happen in a couple of election cycles . But the process has to begin . When ? I think it will begin when the young feel the effects of the decisions being made on their behalf . When the government can no longer do the gimmies . When adults start to sue health care providers and parents who thought it was a good idea to mutilate them when they were minors . When the kids who are strapped with unsustainable debt and find that there is no relief in empty promises by the Dems rebel . The education process has to begin and I think it has with parents fighting back against woke education....with organizations like 'Turning Point USA ' and ' Blexit '(the 2 organizations are now merging )

As for the GOP goes .They can only survive if they reject crony capitalism with strings attached like central bureaucratic controls attached . The GOP cannot out Dem the Dems

I played that very segment for my wife last night. I don't know that I've ever heard anyone else say that. Peterson's response was also spot on when he mentioned that we have replaced God, family, country, and work ethic with gender/race identity and other areas of far less value.

Your comments about the GOP surviving are correct. I would add that we must turn back to the responsibility of the individual to support him/herself rather than expecting the wealthy to do it.
