The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery has named their 2022 'Portrait of a Nation Award' honorees. Included are Oscar-winning director Ava DuVernay, the founder of the Children’s Defense Fund Marian Wright Edelman, superstar tennis greats Serena and Venus Williams , iconic music executive Clive Davis, and José Andrés, founder of the World Central Kitchen .

The award “recognizes extraordinary individuals who have made transformative contributions to the United States and its people across numerous fields of endeavor, ranging from the arts and sciences to sports and humanitarianism.” Kim Sajet, director of the National Portrait Gallery, said in a statement. “The Portrait of a Nation Award reminds us that history is living and the choices people make have an impact on the nation’s legacy.”

Oh yeah ;they will also paint Herr Doctor Fauci. Last year he and the Smithsonian exchanged gifts .He gave them his 3D covid model .They in return gave him a 'Great Americans 'medal.

When I first saw the list I was reminded of the Sesame Street Muppet song "One of these things is not like the other " Then I found out that not all the portaits are of heroes .
