I know this is an older post, but I couldn't resist!this IS after all and answer site :P

You know, I've always believed in other worldy life forms ( aliens monsters what ever) I believe anything is possible. Like werewolves, maybe it isn't really some man who turned intoa wolf beast, but he was in a facility doing tests on him and it deformed him, he was running away and staying in hiding, and people thought he looked wolfish, andjust assumed " WEREWOLF!", maybe he had major mental problems and enjoyed riping people apart.
    Who knows.
I know we can't be the only living things ever, as there are billions and BILLIONS of planets, and galaxies out there that we've NEVER encountered, or reached before. There could very well, and probably is, another life form out there more evolved, or maybe even less evolved than us, out there. I mean, think about the millions of planets and stars beyond our glaxy that have not even been discovered yet, who knows if all, if not any at all, will ever be discovered by us.
I don't rule aliens out at all.
but I think of it as a more logical topic rather than a psychological topic.
=] I always keep an open mind.

Any lifeform, no matter how simple or complex, has but one purpose encoded into it's genes on a primal level; to reproduce and flourish.
