    Comfuzzed on 8283 deductions
a little confused on 8283 for deductions, it looks like all I have to complete is section A for lots of cloths, shoes , a few household item, that value about 4 to 5 thousand, so for under 5,000.00, so where does the organization sign?
looks like part 2 of section A, section B appears to be only for more then 5,000.00, I have up to 5,000.00 in donations because of my wife giving away a lot of stuff, mostly cloths
or is 5 or 6 or so receipts up to 500 each acceptable to the IRS, with out the 8283?
thank you if you can help richard

You only have to do Section B if any ONE item costs more than $5,000. You can list all of the items that you donated in Section A for totals that exceed $5,000, with no problem. However, the higher the listing, the more likely the IRS will challenge the donation.

Receipts NEVER hurt, and may come in handy if the IRS challenges the donations.

You can use multiple Forms 8283. In my experience as a tax pro, I have at least ONE client each year for whom I prepare multiple Form 8283. The record is EIGHT.
