    No Throttle Control
Why are all new lawn mowers factory set to 3200 rpm (no throttle control)?

If I were to guess, I would think so that the EPA can control the Emissions, if they are the ones who control that.

That is an efficient speed for less air pollution. Any lawnmower engine is maybe 15% efficient. At low RPM is runs rich.

No they don't.. some might... but they all don't.

I have one that doesn't, and several that do...

Assume its something the Environazi's imposed.

I adjust it higher to get MUCH better cutting performance out of the mower, they aren't mowing my yard for me so I set it where it makes me happy. Its not hard to do.

I think the confusion comes in the use of the word "throttle". Most push mowers I have seen in the past two or three decades do not have a throttle. Can the rpms be adjusted up or down? Yes, but that is not, to me, the same thing as a throttle.

    I love that quote!

I have an electric start Torro, a MTD, and a Run of the Mill Briggs and Stratton (Simple store branded unit) all that have Actual Throttle levers on the handle, and a 6.5 hp Murray that doesn't that would bog down and stall out in the same grass the old 3.5 ho briggs kept cutting without trouble. RPM"S were way too low for the mower to clear its own clippings... (was given to me when it was 6 months old by a neighbor that was moving).

It works fairly well once I cranked it up over how it was built... or I was going to put a throttle lever and cable on it... I still might. Would only take me about 10 minutes.
