I am wondering how old is the art?
Very often an antique dealer in town may be a good start.
They can always refer you to someone else locally.

It's probably a good idea to let people know what kind of material you're having appraised.

Go to a upscale art store. Call first let them know what you have also you could put the artist name in who's who in art and do a search... may help you out a little:)

I'm also from your side of the tracks and if you haven't connected with an honest fine arts appraiser I might be able to help you--at no charge. Just send images of your art to me at AOL.com - Welcome to AOL along with the size of each one and I'll take a look and get back with you.
