    Privacy Laws
Here is question about the privacy laws. Bill rents an apartment paid by his grandfather. He applied for health care from the county hospital. The hospital furnishes low income health care The hospital program is funded by property taxes and grants.
On the application from hospital not only did they ask bill question. But they want
All information about everyone in the household. Even the landlord. Who has nothing to do with bill or about the hospital program. He is reluctant to give out his ss# and other personal information.
    What is your opinion?

If Bill wants assistance he furnishes all information aside from that of the landlord. He simply tells them the landlord is not a relative, nor is he an occupant of the residence. This information is what is used to deem whether Bill qualifies for assistance.

If Bill wants to be treated then Bill fills out the application. There are no privacy laws against asking for personal information. It's voluntary. Bill should also read the FINE PRINT before he signs it. While I doubt the hospital can share any information he provides, they may have partners they SHARE certain information with. This information is the terms of agreement.

The grant writers set up criteria that must be met in order to receive the grants. If Bill does not furnish the financial information required by the grant writers, Bill does not qualify for the grant. It's really fairly simple.

The hospital does not have to share Bill's information with anyone as it is part of the criteria the hospital has on hand as to whether to approve the assistance. However, if Bill does not qualify 109%, and is held responsible for a portion, his information will be shared with the court should he default on what he may owe.

Thank you. The food stamp people are different. They only want information about the applicant that is applying. Nobody else. The memorial hospital has its own rules.
Bill answered all the question about himself. But they demand to know about everyone living in the household. Many rebuke this invitation from the charity hospital
