Delta shower valve won't deliver enough hot water
    Hi,

I've have a Delta shower valve. It is a single handle, I don't know the model. When wide open, it delivers a warm show, not a hot shower.

I've adjusted the scauld mechanism with no luck; I've even removed it.

    Here's what happens:

With the handle at "3 o'clock", the valve is off.

Rotating counter-clockwise to "12 o'clock", the shower is at its warmest. This is also the max rotation point the scauld mechanism will physically allow.

If I remove the scauld mechanism, I can rotate the handle past "12" toward "9". At this point the flow stops.

If I continue to rotate the handle counter-clockwise to "6", the flow is cold.

Attached are pictures of the valve.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Glenn

Is this a new install or has it always acted like this?

I am thinking a bit of debris broke loose and is partially clogging the hot inlet. Shut off your water, pull the cartridge, cover the outlet with a tightly held towel and briefly turn the water back on for just a moment. Check and clear the cartridge before reinstalling.

Based on your description of how handle turns - and releases hot and cold water - almost seems to me that the body (valve) is installed upside down.

Looks like Bob and John got it. I replaced the cartridge and it works fine.

Maybe some teflon paste or other crap got pushed into the cartridge on the initial flow.

    Thanks.
