    Please Answer Painful
OK I've recently started menstruating the beginning of the year. Cycles and everything was regular. Now its day 24 of "the cycle" again and I have pain in my left abdomen and it is spreading to my back . Usually my menstrual pain occurs during the period and not just on the left but right too. I'm not even menstruating right now but I should in four days. What does this mean by the way my body is trying to settle into a normal cycle because I've only menstruated twice before.

You should have course talk to your mom about this, your monthly cycle is just part of your body and normal to discuss with your mom. (or other close older women)

With that said, many women have pain before their cycle starts, others pain though out the cycle. Some months my wife's pain is so bad, she really does not leave the house for a couple days.

Also sometimes periods vary, more pain some months, less others.

    Just wondering..
OK I am at menarche (which means I just started menstruating) and I have only had two periods in my lifetime. Its day 26 and my period is supposed to start two days (like always) and when I woke up I noticed watery discharge a lot. Is this normal?

You'll find that your discharge will change more now at different times in your cycle. Sometimes it will be more fluid and clear, sometimes more sticky and white, sometimes creamy, sometimes you may not notice anything.

It is not uncommon to have some cycles be irregular when you first start having periods. You could have them every month from now on, or you could skip some months, or a few months, in the first years of menstruating. This is why it is a good idea to always keep a pad or two in a purse or backpack since you may not always know when it may start.

If you haven't already, look into a book on the changes you are, and will, experience, or look at various online sites on the topic.

It can take years for your period to regulate itself. Most young girls just starting their periods have off months, feel different things, new fluids, new twinges, short periods, long periods, missed periods for months, you name it. Most women have a more consistent period once they're older, in their 20's.

Unless you're sexually active, any change in your period, after only having 2 periods, is pretty much the norm.

Having said that, it's never a bad idea to talk to your mom, or better yet your doctor, about any concerns you may have.

But period offs in the first few years, totally normal!
