The main reason that most people vote in favor of unions is higher wages?
I am taking a course in HR and am looking to find answers to questions regarding Unions. This is an open book, website, anything goes test.

The premise is wrong - "most people" don't vote in favor of unions anymore. Membership in the US anyway is dropping like a rock. They are useless, take your money, sit on it and lose it and spend it on the fatcat union bosses, and get nothing that the workers can't get for themselves through more labor protection laws.

I see plenty, with people wanting more.
The next proposal is mandatory paid maternity, sick, and taking care of a sick relative leave. How is an employer going to PAY those wages?

You can't do it off the wages they do pay you as it is, so don't get sick, have babies, and mama can take care of herself right? Quite the conundrum.
