Pegasus Kitchen faucet sprayer not working
    Hello all,

I have read the site to fix a few problems with this same kitchen sink, and I am having an issue that I have not a thread related to my problem.

First off, the brand is a pegasus, model number: #856 0111 in Brushed Nickel. The sprayer did not work from the start (I got the faucet from a kitchen model, so I used it in my kitchen), and I just figured it was a bad mixer. So I contacted the manufacturer and got sent new parts.

I have installed a rebuild kit for the main spout/neck, I have replaced the mixer cartridge in the handle unit, and I have replaced the sprayer unit completely, all through the warranty program.

So basically the entire faucet set is pretty much brand new, but the sprayer does not work. I don't know what else could be the problem for the sprayer to have issues.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you replace the diverter valve?

Shut the water off and remove the handle. You should be able to pull the spout up and away. You will find the diverter in the front of the valve. Remove it and turn the water back on for a few seconds to flush out any trash. Reassemble and test. Working better now? Tom

    Thanks for the responses.

hkstroud, I am not sure what a diverter valve is, but the cartridge that I replaced in the handle is the following: http://www.mobilefish.com/images/tutorials/faucet_ceramic_cartridge_example1.gif

If they are the same thing, and I am just calling it a different name, then I apologize.

    Speedball,

I will have to pull it back apart and see what I can find and try what you mentioned.

    Thanks

The diverter valve is a small internal valve that is operated by water flow to the sprayer. When you open (use) the sprayer, the water flow to the sprayer closes the valve and blocks the flow of water to the spout. If that valve gets stuck, the water just continues to come out the spout

I can't find a break down of the Pegasus, so I don't know whether the diverter is in the mixer valve or in the spout.

Looking back at the 2011 post, I think what was shown in the photo's was the mixer valve. If so, what was shown was the two input risers (hot and cold) and a single output to the spout. That would mean that the diverter was in the spout.

In other words, if the sprayer is connected to the mixer the diverter will be in the mixer. If the sprayer is connected to the spout, the diverter valve will be in the spout.
