Water in an exterior electrical socket
    Hello,

I was hosing off the front of my house & water must have gotten into the outlet. It made a buzzing sound, a pop & then a small, but decent amount of smoke came out of the socket itself. This does have a GFI on it but I am afraid to mess with it now. It has been about 15 minutes & nothing has happened. Is this going to start a fire?

    Thank you so much

    NO.

Obviously the outlet was not water tight. The breaker should have tripped. That is something you can check. Have electrician replace outlet and insure that a water tight outlet box and cover is used.
