    Changing thermoststs
I have a heat pump with aux backup heat. I had a Janitrol thermostat with mercury and I'm changing to a digital Honeywell RTH2510. I'm not sure how the wiring goes. What is the W terminal on the old Janitrol for, or what does it wire to?

My outside unit leaks Freon and needs to be replaced. The system is about 9-10 years old. Initially, the contractor gave me a $2500 estimate to change the outside unit to a new Trane XR14.
