    Ear infection pain
Now I know this isn't directly realted to "hearing" although I think this is the most related forum to ear problems.

I'm a 16 year old girl, and ever since the age of 6months I have had re-accurent glue ear, I've had several (over 40) sets of PE tubes. I won't grow out of them I've been told, although.. in my right ear I have a permentant perferation which is acting like a tube. My ear is infected and I'm using eardrops, which, quite frankly, is torture. The eardrops are making my ear so painfull, and I need these morning and night, for two weeks. I'm one that can handle pain with no tears, but this just makes my cry like a child.

I'm not sure why the infection has set in.. My ENT specialist said I may have perhaps got a droplet of water in my ear which has bought on the infection.

After 16 years of ear problems the whole thing is getting very tiresome and old. I just want normal ears, and, as soon as the tubes are out, infection and glue sets in. So I just don't know what do to anymore, either way I go with my ears results in pain, discomfort and the like. What do you guys out there suggest?

I had severe ear infections as a child. I had over 14 different sets of tubes for my ears. The pain is unbelievable with an ear infection. I always found that peroxide in the ear , as much as it hurt, helped me get over them more quick.
Although from the antibiotics and surgeries, I am now HIGHLY resistant to antibiotics, anesthetics. Also as a result my ear drums scarred. So because of the flaking of the scarring I now have better than normal hearing. My suggestions are to do your best to bare the pain, your body can adapt quite well. Talk with your doctor if you fell your antibiotics are not cutting it. Believe it or not if you keep your sinus' clean it can prevent future ear infections, the systems are interconnected.
Hope any of these rambling helps
