How can I amend Form 8843?
Hi, I have been an F-1 student since 2011 and accordingly have been filing Form 8843. I just realized that I made a mistake in my 2012 Form 8843 - specifically, I mistakenly put a significantly less number of days under Line 4b ("the number of days in 2012 you claim you can exclude for the purpose of the substantial presence test"). As I believe this is a critical part of this form, I would like to correct this mistake. How can I amend Form 8843? Can I just send a new 2012 Form 8843 with a brief explanation of request to amend the previously filed 2012 Form 8843, and if so, to which address? Alternatively, should I file Form 1040X with a newly filled Form 8843? I truly appreciate your assistance in advance.

I beliefe you can just send in a new form 8843.
No need to amend your entire return as it doesn't change anything on your tax return.

Thanks taxesforaliens! In that case, I guess I can send the new form 8843 to the normal address where you would send form 8843. Thanks again for your help.

Yes, just send a corrected Form 8843 with a cover letter explaining the correction.
