    Violation of probation.
I know someone who violated there probation. It was for having beer in the house during a house search (which was his mothers, her house, she took responsibility for it.) and a week and a half later they arrested him. This is his first violation of probation, and he has 9 months left. He'll be in jail for 2 months until his court date. Could they let him off with time served?

We don't know anything about his case, his history, or what judges are like where he lives, or how crowded the prisons are.
    It's possible. Anything is possible.
It is irrelevant to the court what his mother took responsibility for or whose house it was. That includes being in someone's car, or even just standing around with people.

What if his probation officer is for him and not against him.

That should help. But again, there are too many variables.

    Hello 14:
What if his probation officer is for him and not against him.
What's clear here, is when a PO puts his charge in jail for TWO MONTHS for a one stinking LOUSY beer, he is NOT on his side.

I mean, on his court date his PO will state to the judge how he believes that my friend is trying to get out that environment and has never been late on payment or missed anything in the past 2 years. Etc.

If I WASN'T clear above, lemme try again...

The PO IS NOT your friends friend.. He's the OPPOSITE. He's the one who VIOLATED him for a lousy beer, and put him in jail for 2 months or LONGER.. If you want somebody to speak up for your friend at the violation hearing, hire a lawyer.
