J-1 to H-1B visa change tax issue
    Hi,

I am from the UK and currently in the US on a J-1 visa. I have the tax exemption so I do not pay any income tax. I realise that if I stay longer then 2 years then I am liable to pay back those taxes. If I were to change from J-1 to a H-1b, such that a left the US before the 2 year deadline, and let the J-1 expire, but then returned (within a short time frame) on a H-1b, would I still be liable for those taxes? I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere.

    Thanks,

    Oli
