Solve these equations where variables are first letters of their names.

    H + F = 120
    H + P = 230
    P = 6F

Hint: Substitute for P in second equation. Then you have two equations in variables H and F. Try solving them.

consider Hari as H, Faridth as F, Peter as P

As the statement the equation is

    H + F = 120 -----------------(1)
    H + P = 230 -----------------(2)

    given P= 6F

    substitute P=6 F in the equation (2)

    H + 6 F = 230 ------------------- (3)

Solving equation (1) and (3) subtract equation (1) and (3)

    H + F = 120
    H + 6 F = 230
    --------------------
    - 5 F = -110
    5 F = 110
    i.e F = 22

    Sub F in P= 6 F, P= 132

So the value of H is

    H + 6(F) = 230
    H + 6(22) = 230
    H + 132 = 230
    therefor, H = 230- 132 = 98, H= 98, So Hari has $ 98.00
