Can I Get Married To A 24 Year Old, At The Age Of 16 In Kentucky?
Hey, my name's Rebecca, currently I'm 14, and Tommy will be 23 Tomorrow.. we've been together for almost a year and a half and I know a lot of you guys are going to just tell me how wrong it is. I'm not even sure this is something I want, I'm just curious. Right now I'm focused on HIGH SCHOOL and he's focused on COLLEGE. I was honestly just wondering if their we're any laws that would prevent this?

If you are both focused on school... then why not wait until you BOTH have graduated?

Kentucky law at age16-17 you have to have parents file consent.

So you were 12 1/2, and he was going on 22, when you decided to become a couple.

You are right that people will tell you this is wrong, and they would be right in doing so.

What do your parents think of this?

This guy is sick. No 22 yr old would be involved romantically with a 12 yr old. Do your parents know about this relationship?

If this guy has done anything sexual with you, he has broken the law.

In Kentucky it is a CLASS D FELONY for someone 21 or older to engage in sex with someone under 16. It's called 'sexual abuse in the first degree.'

THAT is your concern now, not what you might be thinking and feeling a few years from now. I hope you and Tommy aren't having sex. But to answer your question, you can marry him when you are 16. Even if he's in prison.

Isn't the law of averages that posts that start "I know what you are going to say ..." are trolls?

And of course you are getting dangerously close to a place where some family trees resemble flag poles.

I just want to point out that he will not stay the 24 year old that you know today any more than you will be the same person at 16 or 22 for that matter. You forgot to add two years to his age. He will be 26, not 24.

Do your parents/guardians know about him? Do you know him in real life or on-line? Does he know how old you really are?

Frankly, I think you may have a crush with hopes and dreams of a relationship. It is preferable to thinking about him dumping you for a new 12 year old as soon as you are more developed and womanly looking and acting.

Cat, he will be 23 for a whole year + 24 for a whole year, and she might easily turn 16 a bit over a year from now, when he is still 24.

Thank you. I misread the turning 23 for turning 24.

I still hope she is building a relationship out of hopes and fantasies and not reality.
