STOLEN? Handlan St. Louis railroad lamp red globe
I have a pretty common Handlan, red globe, St. louis, railroad kerosene lamp.

What I don't think is common is on the top of the piece that holds the kerosene, it is impressed in the metal: STOLEN FROM LOS ANGELES RY CORP.

Is this something they all say? How could they possibly know it would be stolen?

Any information on why it would be marked in this manner would be appreciated.
