If this is a scam, it's not going to happen. American's aren't that dumb - we are well aware of these schemes to get someone to send you money because they feel sorry for you when you really aren't even in ghana. We're not going to wire you money. You can be tracked down and prosecuted.

If this is not a scam and you are a legitimate person who wants to come here, go to the US embassy in your country if you are seeking asylum and ask about the process. If you want to come as a visitor or immigrant, you can also find out about those requirements at the American embassy.

As for costs, you'll have to price that out yourself. Too many variables for us to estimate it for you.

You're likely being taken by a scam. Tell us, she wants to come and be with you now, right? But she will face a challenge because she has no money for the visa and plane ticket and such. Once you are foolish enough to send this, there will be some other fee or her mother/father/child will be sick and the money will need to go to them.

It's been done thousands of times. It's a dating scam.

The US visa, and the Ghana passport costs 330 US dollars.
The plane ticket will depend on time of year but would be about 2000 dollars round trip on discount fares. But you can do this prepaid and have ticket waiting for them, you do not have to send them the money.

After this, they will tell you most likely about BTA, basic travel allowance, ( this is not true) they will talk about criminal background checks , not needed ( and if they did only a few dollars just like in the US) they will talk about medical exam, and more. Most will want about 10,000 to 6000 total often , which is not true.

Next on the way to the airport, they will have a weck or get sick and disappear for a few weeks, then a "friend" contacts you that they are in hospital and need money to pay bill before they can come.

Then they are detained at airport and need a certain amount of money in a few hours.

Next they will not allow you to mail them a check, or do a bank transfer to a bank, they willl want the money send western union so it can not be properly traced
