    I have 31 dollars. I want to make 113 dollars in 17 days. How much money should I make each day?

    What's the first thing you have to do to figure out this problem?

    I'll give you a hint, then you post the answer you got, and how you got it, and we'll go from there.

    You have $31, you want to make $117 in 17 days. I'm assuming that's $117 total, not $117 plus the $31 you already have. So, 117-31. What is that?

    Once you subtract 31 from 117, you have 17 days to make that amount. How would you figure out how much money you need to make per day to reach your goal in 17 days?
