    Quit claim and heloc
After twenty years in the military it was discovered that my husband was stealing he is now incarcerated. Before he left he had his mother cosign for a heloc using my house as collateral. He also forged checks draining my personal bank account. The bank will not speak to me they will only deal with him and his mother however no one has made payments or has tried to contact the bank except for myself, help how can I get this off my property. I am divorcing him and was also wondering can I sign over the quit claim deed to get the house strictly in my name with a power of attorney?

    Hello bethany:

Sounds like you're on the verge of losing your house. There's been a lot of illegal activity there, and you can't just cover it up with a quit claim deed. I wouldn't mess around here, because if you do the wrong thing, your house could be gone forever. Therefore, I recommend you hire a real estate attorney TODAY.

I recently took my fiance's name off the deed to my house using a Quit Claim Deed. Palm Beach County stepped in and re-assessed the value of my home because they said it constituted a sale.
