    Looking for a movie title with the word "Richie" in it from late 70's to early 80's
    I am looking for a movie about a teenage boy using illegal pills and the struggle between his parents and him about it, especially his father and him. The boy's name was "Richie" in the movie, he had a secret room in his closet behind the wall that he would go into to use drugs and listen to music. The movie ends with Richie getting killed by a car. This movie was on a major TV network like ABC, NBC, or CBS back in the late 1970's to early 1980's. I was thinking it starred Robbie Benson as Richie, but I cannot find anything on it. Thanks for the help!

All I can remember is the main character's name was Sherman, a young teenage boy. I just remember a Halloween scene and a kid sticks his hand in the bag and gets his fingers snapped with a mouse trap. Any ideas?
