Mismatched 2 ton coil and 3.5 ton condenser
Will it work? 2 ton condenser was stolen . I have 3.5 ton condenser available
For this rental property what else might go wrong?

Are they the same freon? This much disparity is a lot. Typically you don't want more than 1/2 ton differential and an even match is optimal.

The 3.5 ton unit will be way to big for the 2 ton coil in the home.

The 3.5 ton unit will probably be to large for cooling that home and will short cycle and not remove the moisture and that is if you change the indoor coil so the unit will run.

The electric wiring running to the 2 ton unit will probably be to small for the 3.5 ton unit and that will also have to be changed and it goes on and on.

What you need to do is to get a 2 ton unit of the same refrigerant type OR replace the entire system. Sorry but that is just the way it is.
