In a span of 3 months, my ex, whom I have dated for the past 7 years (we are now in our 30s), proposed and then decided he didn't want to get married because he has "lost the love for me" and "doesn't love me enough to want to marry me". He claims "the love has faded" over the past 1-2 years but I never saw this coming.

We had a huge quarrel before the break up because I felt he wasn't ready to walk down the aisle with me despite the proposal. Every time the marriage topic came up, he would avoid it or get irritated with me. I asked him why he proposed and he said it was what I wanted and he was afraid of losing me if he didn't. He asked for a break to think through things but the break eventually led to break up.

I asked him to give our r/s a chance as 7 years is a long time and we were mostly happy before. He said he doesn't think he can ever find the love for me back. I know things are not easy for him now either - he has some problems going on at home (his dad cheated on his mom). I offered my support but he has chosen to shut me out and break up with me instead.

Should I forget him & move on with my life or give him space until his family problems are resolved and then try to reconcile again? I am just afraid of being hurt again :(
