Jpeg files being received as .dat
I have a friend who receives my jpegs as .dat, and therefore cannot open up the file. What does he need to do to open to view the files?
    We are both running WinXP.
    Thanks

    Jpeg
    Hi,
Are you trying to send jpeg from Outlook Express as email to him?
    Open Outlook.
Then, at the top, click on Tools, then Options.
    Click on the Security tab.
Then, Uncheck "Do not open attachments........".
    Have him do the same.
    Best wishes,
    fredg

The file is, for example: elefant.jpg(85KB). I am sending it from Microsoft Outlook.
I found out, just today, he is using MSN MAIL. I don't know if that makes a difference.

    MSN Mail
    Hi,
Your friend needs to check out the FAQ's at the MSN mail.
There is probably a setting for him/her to choose, allowing attachments to be received as they are; i.e. . jpg.
I am sure they can be received as you sent them. It will be a setting on MSN mail end.
    Happy New Year,

Have you tried renaming the file back to .jpg?
