    OCD / ADD / LYING / STEALING / FAILING TEEN / What's the connection?
    After I finished watching a documentary on Tourette's, my son, on Facebook at the computer, turned around and said, "I have that." He proceeded to tell me he counts numbers at school, has a fixation with his toes and I was relieved. All his school years I was sure there was something amiss.

    Having come from a family 4 girls, my assurance from my husband that he was just a boy. When I tried to talk again to my son about this, he swore he never admitted this. He has on one occasion admitted to the fact that he lies all the time and he does not know why. He said he lying is what he does best. He is so right. He lies about everything and anything and I am convinced that he believes his own lies.

    He detracted stealing from the family about a year and a half ago. WE couldn't prove it... but as he started to show up with items that were not purchased by us... I tried to get to the bottom of it and he would weave his magical tall tale. He is not a mean kid. He can be soulful but I believe there is something more than a lack of character.

    I don't believe the mental health community addresses this, at least not that I have found. He just turned 17... we are running out of time.

    Oh, but it IS addressed by the mental health community! Have you looked for a therapist yet?

    When I was about 10 my mum thought I had some sort of problem since my school teacher had complained of my lack of focus the GP said I had OCD. I had tablets to help e concentrate on the things I was supposed to be doing. My best friends mum was a homoeopath and believed it was rubbish. It half convinced me but I carried on with tablets I can't remember if they helped or not but there is treatment you can get I'm not on those tablets anymore I'm fairly normal I have had an odd childhood and went through much depression and anxiety took over much of my life. If your child has a problem you should talk to a specialist they an help I promise I had one and they saved my life literally. :)

    County Mental Health absolutely does treat children and he definitely is in need
    Of therapy. Get him help while he is still under your roof, quickly!!
