    Cats urinating on floor
One or more of my three cats has been urinating on the floor outside of their boxes instead of going inside it. I make sure that their boxes are clean and full of litter and I always wash the urine off the floor right away and wipe it with vinegar to get rid of the smell, but they still do it pretty often. Is there anything else I can do to get them to go inside their boxes?

We have one female who does this, so we take a thick hunk of newspaper and lay it under the litter box and sticking out from under the open side (three sides are blocked by walls). If she misses the litter, the urine lands on the newspapers which soak it up. Putting a plastic mat under the paper would be even more protective of the floor. Of course, this all has to be watched and kept clean.

Have you changed litter lately? Do you keep it clean and scooped? Is it treated with chips or a deodorant? (cats don't like that)

Putting newspaper under the boxes is a good idea, sometimes when I lift the boxes, the floor is wet underneath. I change the litter every few months and scoop it twice a day. I use unscented litter, I think it has baking soda to reduce the smells.
