No power in wiring to switch
The wall switch has no power in wiring. The switch turns the fan with a light kit on and off. All of a sudden it does not work. Took the fan down and hooked to check wiring and it was all OK. Then, I checked the breaker box and turn a couple off and on again. Looked like they may have been tripped but this did not work either. I took the switch plat off and check for power and there is none. I replaced the switch anyway but without power does not work. The wiring is the old stuff with the cloth covering. Went into the attic but could not trace by myself so abandoned that idea. All plugs work in the bedroom where the problem is so do not understand why power is gone to wiring. Any suggestions?

The line is either hot through or switch looped. If the power comes to the switch, you have a disconnect from the hot supply. If it is switch looped, the hot is probably in the ceiling box and is brought down to the switch. How many wires in the switch box? How many in the ceiling box?
