Are you talking about the United States military? It does not cost anything. You have to pass their physical and screening, then go to basic and pass that. Pick your branch, talk to recruiters, and keep your options open. The military is an excellent are to pick up skills training. My youngest nephew is a heliocopter mechanic - all learned through the Army.
