    gear carburising
    Hi folks,

I have a problem. I require a set of gears (actually about 1500 pcs) to be case hardened. I have the spec of the hardened material and the material itself. However, I am being asked to what depth of the gear wheel.

    Material: SAE8620 (EN36)
    Finished hardness: HRC 56-60

Is there a formula for calculating the depth or is some arbitrary value OK?
