My father is the most unreasonable man I know, and I'm tired or living here. Since I'm a 23 year old who is almost done with college, I am working on moving out of my father's house within a year. About a year ago he abused my mother physically and I caught him and kicked his a**. In a few months things were put to rest, but he decided to move my brother out of his room and put him in the basement where I am. Before my brother was moved in to the basement, I had my 42 inch LCD T.V. playstation 3, and xbox 360 set up there. When I got home all three of those things, including the TV stand, were found in another area of the basement. My brother's bed and furniture were found in place of were my electronics were. I didn't retaliate because it is his house, so packed up my game consoles and started wrapping up my TV to protect it from dust. When my brother got home and saw his stuff we started talking about it until something caught my eye. The antenna cord had something hanging out from the end. When I took a closer look, it was the connector piece from the TV that connects the antenna/cable cord to the TV to get a signal. If anybody owns a LCD, plasma, LED, OLED, or standard television, they know that piece is not removable. So I figured out that my father broke it off instead or screwing off the end of the cord. Since I found out, I never confronted him about it neither has he. I know for a fact that he knows he broke it because I know what kind of man he is. I take good care of my things and I don't plan on getting a new TV for another 6 years. I didn't get an estimation of how much it is to fix that connector, but I know it's expensive. What I plan on doing is getting the TV fixed and giving my father the bill so that he can pay for it. My question is: If he refuses to play for the bill, can I sue him for property damage?

You can try, but you would likely lose... And then you can be expected to be evicted in the next 30 days by your father because He who owns the house... or at least has his name on the lease if it's a rental. You don't.

Personally... you better just suck it up and be happy you aren't having to rent your own place. If you had gotten into MY face... I would have already served you with an eviction notice...

Can you, what proof do you have that he moved it, Ok I know he did, you know he did, but what can you produce in court to prove he did it, He can just say in court you or your brother moved it, your word against his.

You can try, I doubt you will win.

I also agree, expect to be evicted before your small claims even gets to court.
