Can jugement quebec ganish my EI payments and seize money from my account?
Hi!
I have been paying Jugement Quebec in the last 4 weeks a total of $1650. I still owe $900 left on the debt. However, I am presently on EI and cannot make any further payments this month without suffering at home (I have 1 dependent and we have no food). The lawyer assigned to my case/file is threatening to garnish all I have (which is EI payments and child tax benefits). I don't think I can find the last $900 this month. Can they seize my account for only $900? If I get a new job, will the employer know that my pay is being seized, is there any way to avoid this??
