Hi! My dog was very healthy until just a few days. She is a miniature dachshund 3 years of age. She is up to date with all her vaccines since she is under a medical health plan at Banfield. Sometimes I even think that she gets to many vaccines. Well, in December I spotted a bump on her back and she was scheduled to have her teeth cleaned. I took her right away and the vet told me that they will try to remove it using the anestisia from the dental cleaning. It was taken out and the vet told that it kind of look like a ball of fat and that it may grow back again.
About two weeks ago I noticed it had grown back again and I had already noticed that she had several fat pockets in her arms ( which the vet and I though it was from previous shots she had). Well I though of waiting to have some money to take her to vet and remove it since it was not going to be covered by my plan.
On April 20th she was scheduled to have a routine vaccines and I took her to the vet, I even scheduled an appointment for a few weeks to remove the ball on her back. I notice that she was sore from her arm, which I thought it was normal due to the vaccines.
On Saturday of that week I noticed a big bump on her arm, it was swollen and very sore since she cried when I touched her. Immediately I thought a reaction to the vaccines and took her back to the vet. They told me it was in fact that, she got an antibiotic shot and they gave me some pain killers for her. Next day (Sunday) I noticed it was open, thinking that because she had been liking it she may had open it. We call the vet and went to buy her an e-collar.
Monday we took her back to the clinic so that they check her, and they told me that she had another antibiotic prescribed to take by mouth daily and they gave me a flush to clean the wound. They told me to bring her on Thursday for a check up.
Thursday we took her and as we were driving to the vet, the ball of fat on her back ruptured and started to bleed. We told the vet. This was yesterday. Then at 11;00 the vet calls me telling me it had nothing to do with the vaccines, that it appeared that the bump on the back was the one spreading the other fat pockets on her arms and that they were beginning to rupture. Now she has 3 open wound in her arms were the fat pockets were, the one in her back and one in the back of her tail. I am terrified!! The vet told it was very strange and that they needed to do a culture to check for bacteria or maybe a fungus, but we wouldn't know until next Tuesday to have the results. She told me to continue with the antibiotic and pain killers and to flush all the wounds until we know what it is. The odd thing is that Nina barely goes outside, she loves to be inside at home and she just goes to a small green area to release herself and then she goes back inside our home.
I had been very objecting telling the story, but I am terrified and suffering maybe more than her just to see her in this state. A positive note is that she still moves her tail, she still gets happy to see us, she has appetite and barks when she hears strangers.
I need your help, because I know is a strange case and I am desperate trying to look for possible answers. She is my baby!! I am waiting for the results on Tuesday but maybe you can help me too.

Personally, I would find a different vet other than Banfield. Banfield doesn't have the best reputation as far as medical help goes... and they are very expensive.

How big are these open wounds? Are they big? Or small? If they are small, I would think an allergic reaction to something... and she would require an antihistamine, not antibiotic...

Lypomas *Fat lumps* aren't very common in younger dogs. That's typically an old dog thing.. although, never say never.. I just find it odd that a 3 year old dog has lypomas.

If I were you, I think I'd search for a second opinion. I don't like Banfield, I don't put a lot of faith in them. This could be an allergic reaction to anything ranging from vaccines to environment to food. Just because your dog isn't outside all the time, doesn't mean that she isn't allergic to grasses, molds and pollens. Allergy dogs typically have problems with their skin.

These could also be hot spots. Hot spots are itchy and they can become inflammed and itchy and oozy.

This could be a lot of different things... I'll say it again, get a second opinion... ask around, I'm sure someone will suggest their own personal vet to you.
