    Land line phone number questions
    I have been receiving wrong number calls on my land line phone for a year now. Its been a problem but now that I'm home full time its become a daily issues. I sometimes get 5 calls a day. I finally decided to research and found that the callers are getting a number that is listed for ADT Security. The number is listed on multiple websites. The mistake that was made was the wrong area code was put in. I contacted ADT to let them know of the problem. They said they would look into it. Within an hour I received a call back and they immediately wanted to purchase my phone number rather than go to the trouble and cost of fixing the problem. They offered me a price and when I didn't accept they uped the price. I know its going to be a hassel to change my number which I have had for 3 years and I also know its going to cost ADT more than what they offered me to have someone find all the places this incorrect number is listed and get it changed. Not to mention the business opportunities they are losing. Anyone have any suggestions if I should consider selling my number and what that is worth?

    Most likely not as much as you want, many people due to harassing calls are told just to change their phone number ( not getting paid)

    Plus the ADT can over time, just correct the numbers. And they most likely are not losing too much, when you don't answer they most likely look the number back up.

    You may make more money trying to sell it to another security firm, or by getting paid to answer the calls and "sell a service"

    ADT doesn't have to do anything immediately. They can change their sites at their leisure and you get nothing but lots of wrong numbers. I would take the money and run.

    Hey... thats not a bad suggestion... the part about offering someone else's security service to those who call... not that I really want to do that but certainly a bargaining chip... thanks. I'm not looking to get rich but honestly the hassel of changing my number with all that have it and ADT's pay half up front and the other half once they get the number sounds like more hassel than anything. Thanks for your quick response and just so you know they offered 500.00 first and before they hung up it was 700.00

    How many people know your number? How many poeople call you on a daily basis? Find out long the phone co will forward your old number to the new number.

    There are 2 people that have used this number for 3 years. This is also the only means of communication for one of them who is now home full time with medical issues so this is the number that doctors have . We now get between 3 - 5 calls per day and those are the ones we answer. By giving them the phone number the phone company would be transferring all the ADT calls to our nuew number so I don't think that would resolve the problem unless I'm wrong. Thanks again for your input.
