I live in the 2nd floor of a house which has been up for sale. In the middle of March, my landlords stated the house "looks like is being sold" and that I may have until April 19 to be out. I found a place to live that I was planning to move into on Apri 1st, but my landlords then told me they didn't know if the deal was closed yet so not to worry about moving by April 1st and that I can stay. Today my landlords informed me today that the deal closed and I have to be out by the 20th because the new owner wants to move in that day no exceptions. I do not have any formal written lease stating any terms.

I just need to know if NYS law protects me as the tenant allowing me to have 30 days from the official closing date (today), or 30 days based off our first conversation in March where my landlords stated I may have to leave, then later stated I didn't, preventing me from signing a new lease because they stated I could stay because they were unsure about the deal closing. I also cannot move into the new place until April 28th at the earliest, which was my plan, so I would only need 16 days from today notice that the deal was closed.
