What might be causing by back pain

I have been having a lot of upper back pain since last Wednesday and I'm not sure what is causing it. At first I thought it was my heavy backpack I carry around twice a week. But I thought it would have been gone by now. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how can I treat it?
