Is this to get over a drug addiction or is there another reason for taking the methadone?

You should probably be concerned then as methodone can be addictive. Since it is a Central Nervous System Depressant there are very serious associated risks. You should talk to this person and find out what is going on rather than assuming anything.

Well I have tried to talk to him, but he doesn't listen he says he knows his body, etc... doesn't listen... he says if he doesn't have them then he feels weak and sick, but yet he vomits really bad about 1 time a week... I guess my main concern is, can he die, and he would have by now I am thinking if he has been taking them for a yr now
